Johnson County approves contract for nationally-known inclusivity speaker
The Johnson County Board of Supervisors are bringing in a nationally-known speaker on diversity and inclusion-related topics.
The Board on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve a $4500 contract with Ellie Krug and her company, Minneapolis-based Human Inspiration Works. Krug will hold three training sessions on May 7 on “Gray Area Thinking,” her “human inclusivity training.”
Per Krug, “Gray Area Thinking” is a way to change people’s mindset without using judging connotations, encouraging them to interact with diverse humans “in a mindful and compassionate way.”
A Cedar Rapids native, Krug is a lawyer who transitioned from male to female in 2009. She has since written a book about her experience, as well as hosting her own radio show and hosting the training sessions.
