There likely won’t be a second date for a man who is accused of stealing from a woman’s car while they were out in downtown Iowa City.

Police say the incident happened on Sept. 23. Late that night, 35-year-old George Morris of Cedar Rapids was on a date when he left to go to the woman’s car. Police say he then broke out a window of her car with rock and took his bag, the woman’s makeup case, her cell phone and $20 from her wallet.

Morris allegedly cut himself while breaking into the vehicle and left blood on the back seat, front seat and exterior of the vehicle. The woman also noticed the length of Morris’ absence and went to check on him, finding him leaving the parking ramp with her stuff and something over his hand.

He then fled on foot.

Morris is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor carrying up to two years in jail.
