Cedar Rapids man arrested in July burglary in Solon
A Cedar Rapids man is in custody after being connected to a July burglary in Solon.

Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies had been dispatched to 3975 MacBride Place Northeast early the morning of July 12 after the home’s owner had chased a pair of burglary suspects from his garage.

The homeowner saw a car leave quickly shortly thereafter. Police say within a few minutes they had stopped that vehicle, being driven by a Matthew Butts. He admitted to dropping off two people – “Daiji” and “Debon” – at a nearby residence that had the garage door open.

An investigation led officers to Debonayr Palmer, 20, whose mother stated she had picked up her son and another person named “Daijohn” hours later near the burglary. Palmer also admitted to having been in the area with Butts and Daijohn Proctor at the time of the burglary.

Palmer is charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, a class C felony with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The other two men mentioned in Palmer’s arrest report have not been charged in the case.
