The Iowa City City Council is welcoming one new member, saying goodbye to an old one, and bringing back a former councilor for a new term after the results of Tuesday night’s election.

Josh Moe will join the council after he and Mazahir Salih won election to at-large seats. Salih previously served on the council from 2018-2021.

Laura Bergus, who had occupied an at-large seat on the council, ran against fellow councilor Pauline Taylor in District A this election with Bergus coming out on top.

Other contested races saw Brent Smith, Brian Leibold and Paul Park win seats on the North Liberty city council.

The closest Johnson County race was the Solon mayoral race, which saw Daniel P. O’Neal defeat Steve Stange by just nine votes.

Tim Kasparek won the Tiffin mayoral race,, with Chris Olney and Skylar Limkemann winning spots on the city council.

Cathy Knebel, Michelle Rummelhart and Guy V. Sommers all won election to the Hills city council. The Hills local option sales measure passed with over 75% approval.

The Lone Tree city council race saw Jennifer L. Poeschel and Cathie Conzemius come out on top. Over 68% of the voters passed the city’s local option sales tax proposal.

In Swisher, Curt Cline, Daryl Hynek and Michael A. Stagg all won council seats.

The University Heights city council race saw winners in Nicholas Herbold, Stepheny Gahn, Timothy R Schroeder, Liesa Moore and Doug Swailes.

Johnson County school board elections saw Mitch Lingo, Lisa Williams, Molly Abraham and Charlie Eastham victorious in the Iowa City community district.

Winners in contested Clear Creek Amana school board races were Abdouramane Bila, Allison Momany, and Jennifer Downes. The district’s income surtax proposal passed with 69% approval.

A bond issue in the College Community school district passed with 66% approval.
