A North Liberty man was taken into custody early Thursday after an alleged assault on the mother of their child.

Officers responded to a call on the 200 block of South Chestnut Street around 1:45 am on reports of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the victim said that 22-year-aold Dayton Hull, the father of their child, had pushed her, causing her to fall, leaving injuries to her left arm.  Hull reportedly also punched a hole in the wall.

While being arrested, Hull allegedly refused to put his hands behind his back and began to pull away.  He was then placed on the ground, during which an officer sustained injuries.

Hull was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury and Interference With Official Acts causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
