Two taken into custody in Coralville bank robbery

Two St. Louis residents have been charged in a Coralville bank robbery.

The Bank of the West on 22nd Avenue was robbed about 3:15 p.m. Thursday when a lone male entered the bank and demanded money. Police say the man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and no one was injured.

The robber fled on foot but Coralville Police Chief Shane Kron says a suspicious Ford Crown Victoria with Missouri license plates was seen leaving the area of the robbery. An attempt to locate was issued and the Scott County Sheriff's Office found the vehicle about 4 p.m. at the eastbound 287 mile marker on Interstate 80.

Kron says property believed to be connected to the robbery has been found in the vehicle and both occupants were taken into custody without incident. Those occupants have been identified as Peter Lundberg, 60, and Bridgett Durborow, 48, both of St. Louis.

Lundberg and Durborow are each charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, a class C felony carrying a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Kron says the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
