City officials in North Liberty say crews are in the process of fixing a water main break on Zeller Street.

Communications director Nick Bergus said a little after 4 p.m. Monday crews working on the street in the area of Zeller Crossing near Sugar Creek Lane hit the water main. Bergus says Zeller Street is closed between Zeller Crossing and Sugar Creek Lane while crews make repairs and customers in the area are without water for the time being.

Bergus did not give a time estimate for how long the fix to the water main will take but residents can find updates on the city's website, northlibertyiowa.org.

Those in the area of West Zeller Street between Sugar Creek Lane and Prairie Ridge Court are also being placed under a drinking water advisory, meaning you are advised to either boil your water of use an alternative water source for any water used for drinking or cooking. Officials stress it is not recommended to drink the water without boiling it first until further notice.

City officials say they are working with the Department of Natural Resources to resolve the issue.
