An Iowa City man faces a public intoxication charge after calling police to report his beer had been stolen.

Police were called to the Casey's General Store on North Dubuque Street by Chad Olson, 43, about 10:20 Thursday night so he could report someone had stolen his beer. When officers arrived on scene, they say they learned store clerks refused to sell Olson any beer.

Officers add Olson, who lists his address as the Johnson County Crisis Center, was unsteady on his feet and showed several indicators of intoxication. A post-arrest breath test registered Olson's BAC at .100.

Public Intoxication is a simple misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.
