IC man arrested after shooting friend in the foot

Accidentally shooting his friend in the foot has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.
Police were called to the Maggard Street apartment of 22-year-old Logan Maddox at 5pm Wednesday. Maddox had been handling his Ruger .22 when it accidentally discharged, hitting his friend in the foot. Police say Maddox then hid the weapon nearby, but it was later discovered by investigators when Maddox led them to it.
Maddox is a convicted felon and is also the subject of a no-contact order, both of which prevent him from legally possessing a firearm. He’s charged with Possession of a Firearm as a Felon and a No-Contact order Violation. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
