It was apparently Fight Night in downtown Iowa City early Friday morning, as five people were charged in connection with three separate altercations at the same bar on the Ped Mall.
The first incident happened just before 12:45am in front of The Fieldhouse. Iowa City Police say 24-year-old Charles Smith of Cedar Rapids and 22-year-old Antonio Vazquez of Taylor Drive were involved in a fight. Smith was charged with Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts, while Vazquez was charged with Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct.

Officers were again called to The Fieldhouse for another fight outside at 1:15am. Two more people were involved in that altercation, including 22-year-old Gurpal Singh of South Van Buren Street and 22-year-old Easton French of South Linn Street. Both were charged with Disorderly Conduct.

22-year-old Garrett Culligan of South Dodge Street was kicked out of The Fieldhouse and escorted outside by bouncers just before 1:45am. He was found by officers a short time later walking through a construction area while dragging an orange cone. He led officers on a brief chase from the corner of Dubuque and Washington Streets to the corner of Linn and College Streets before being taken into custody. An officer suffered a lacerated finger during the pursuit.

Culligan was charged with Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury.
