Robbery suspect faces charges after jail fight over TV show

A fight at the Johnson County Jail over a television show has led to assault charges against an Iowa City robbery suspect.
28-year-old Earl Lee Riley Jr. allegedly started the altercation around 4pm Saturday. Video shows Riley pushing and pulling the victim, then head-butting and throwing punches at him, causing a laceration to the victim’s nose which affected his breathing.
Riley is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
Riley is facing three counts of 1st Degree Robbery and one count of 1st Degree and 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse relating to an Iowa City home invasion.
