A local transient with a history of fights has been arrested for trespassing at Iowa City’s wet shelter.

Online records show Iowa City Police were called to the South Clinton Street shelter just after 12:30 Wednesday morning after 42-year-old James Anthony Klinkenberg…better known as “Warpath”…showed up. He was banned from the shelter late last month.

The ban came after Iowa City Police were called to the shelter just before 7:45pm on Christmas Eve for two subjects fighting. Staff at the shelter said Klinkenberg had threatened them and others staying at the shelter, including pulling one subject’s hair. Klinkenberg’s blood alcohol concentration as measured at .380. He was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

Klinkenberg was arrested at the shelter on the same charge the night of Christmas Eve 2017, also for fighting with another transient. He has been removed from the shelter on several other occasions in recent years for similar actions.
