A plea hearing has been set for a Coralville woman found crawling away from her vehicle last fall after allegedly becoming extremely intoxicated and crashing.

39-year-old Natalie Roberts of 5th Avenue had initially pleaded not guilty to third offense charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Public Intoxication. Court records show during a court hearing on Friday Judge Chad Kepros set a plea hearing for 11am on March 8th.

According to arrest records, an officer responded to the 300 block of 6th Street early the morning of Oct. 8 after a concerned citizen reported a single-vehicle accident involving a street sign. The caller said the driver had begun to crawl away from her vehicle.

When the officer arrived on scene, he says he found Roberts still crawling in the roadway about 100 feet from her vehicle. He says she showed multiple signs of intoxication, could not stand up, and began to undress while “wailing nonsensically.”

A preliminary breath test showed Roberts’ BAC to be .397 and she was taken to the hospital due to her level of intoxication.

If convicted on the two charges, Roberts could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
