Kalona woman dies from injuries sustained in accident south of Riverside

A Kalona woman has died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash earlier this week south of Riverside.
75-year-old Mandy Ann Shelter of Kalona was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with unspecified injuries after Wednesday morning’s crash. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office now says she later died as a result of her injuries.
The Iowa State Patrol says 77-year-old Jerry Lee Coblentz of Washington was driving his Pontiac Montana southbound on Highway 218 just after 9:30am Wednesday when he lost control near mile marker 74 and went into the west ditch. The vehicle landed upside-down in a creek.
Coblentz was killed at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
