IC man accused of murdering his father reaches plea deal

An Iowa City man accused of murdering his father has reached a plea deal.
Online records show 31-year-old Flannery Kennedy-Meier will have a plea hearing and be sentenced on May 14th.
Kennedy-Meier is accused of striking his father in the head with an unspecified weapon at his Hotz Avenue home on November 8th, 2017. The father was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and died a few days later.
Kennedy-Meier is charged with 1st Degree Murder and Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury. If convicted, he faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
