Trial for a University of Iowa student accused of sexual assault is expected to take three days.

That’s according to information released in a court hearing on Friday.

22-year-old Charles Henrichs of Governor Street is accused in a sexual assault in the 200 block of Iowa Avenue on April 29th, 2018. About 2 a.m. that day, police say a woman was walking on the sidewalk when she saw Henrichs approaching her. The two knew each other prior to that meeting and stopped to talk.

It’s during that conversation Henrichs is accused of slipping his hand inside the woman’s pants and sexually assaulting her. The woman told police she had not given him consent for any sexual contact and she punched Henrichs before leaving the scene.

Post-arrest, Henrichs allegedly denied the incident happened or knowing the victim at all. However, police say nearby surveillance video captured the incident.

Henrichs is charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C felony with a maximum prison sentence of 10 years. Trial is set for April 16th.
