A HyVee employee faces charges that she stole over $12,000 from the business.

39-year-old Barbara Lee Jackson of Riverside was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 6:45pm Friday. Iowa City Police say Jackson worked in the HyVee Liquor department on Waterfront Drive when she began falsifying beer keg and tapper return transactions starting on October 20th of last year. Between that date and last Monday, Jackson allegedly failed to tally up over 255 deposit transactions for a total of approximately $12,500. Police say Jackson admitted to committing the thefts, but could not remember an exact number. HyVee loss prevention was able to document many of the thefts.

Keg and tapper deposits at the Waterfront HyVee are $30 and $70, respectively.

Jackson, a resident of the Riverside manufactured housing community on Highway 22, is charged with 1st Degree Theft, a Class C felony punishable by a maximum of ten years in prison.
