A North Liberty woman has been taken into custody after allegedly leaving her children home alone to go out drinking.

Officers encountered the woman, 37 year old Eboni Feltus, who has an Illinois ID, outside an apartment in the 700 block of Front Street just after 4am Tuesday. They allege Feltus was highly intoxicated, and she told officers she was home alone with her five children, aged 2-12.

Feltus allegedly stated that she’d been out drinking at a bar and came home just before the officers were called. She also said that she’d paid a neighbor $50 to watch her kids, but the neighbor denied this.

After concluding that Feltus was too intoxicated to care for her children, she was taken into custody. She’s been charged with child endangerment and public intoxication. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to 25 months in prison.
