Fire damages mobile home south of Iowa City

Fire damaged a mobile home south of Iowa City Tuesday afternoon.
Hills firefighters and Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 300 block of Mosswood Lane in the Lake Ridge manufactured housing community just after 2pm Tuesday for a kitchen fire. First-arriving deputies first battled the blaze with fire extinguishers before firefighters from Hills, Iowa City, Lone Tree, West Branch and Riverside arrived on the scene.
The kitchen stove and surrounding cabinets sustained fire damage, but there was smoke damage throughout the home. There were no injuries, but the residents were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting.
The cause of the fire was determined to be a cooking mishap. No damage estimate has been released.
