A local transient with a history of violating no-contact orders with his ex-girlfriend has again been arrested and charged after he was allegedly seen with the woman in a hospital.

University of Iowa Police say they observed 54-year-old Curtis Seals visiting the woman at the UI Hospitals and Clinics Emergency department just before 2am Saturday morning. Seals left before officers were made aware of the no-contact order. He was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 8:30 Tuesday morning and charged with two no-contact order violations.

Seals has violated the protective order on multiple occasions after a 2014 incident in which he came to the woman’s residence, threatened to “beat” her “ass”, burn the house down and shoot her in the head. A few months later he threatened to kill her and her new boyfriend as they were walking along Taylor Drive. He pleaded guilty to Domestic Abuse and 1st Degree Harassment charges after the second incident and spent 60 days in jail.

After multiple no-contact order violations, Seals was eventually charged with felony Stalking in 2017…a charge which could have led to up to five years in prison. Court records show that charge was pleaded down to Trespassing, and Seals was given credit for time served.

After Tuesday’s arrest, Seals listed the woman’s Taylor Drive address as his own in police documents.
