ICPD: Murdered UIHC employee was stabbed to death

A University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics employee found murdered last week died as a result of sharp force injuries.

That’s according to the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s office, which released its findings on Wednesday.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the Green Mountain Drive residence of 65-year-old JoEllen Browning just before 7am Friday for a report of an unresponsive female. Upon arrival, Browning was found dead inside the residence.

Iowa City Police say processing of the crime scene has been completed. Tips and information from community members are being reviewed as they are received. Ffteen to twenty investigators from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and ICPD continue to investigate Browning’s death. No suspects have been identified.
