A Tiffin man faces multiple charges after a break-in Saturday evening in Iowa City.

Iowa City Police were called to the 600 block of Westwinds Drive just after 5:45pm Saturday for an adult male and two juveniles breaking into multiple units. Arriving officers found the three suspects running, and they were taken into custody at gunpoint. One of the juveniles had a gun on his person later identified as a CO2 pistol.

An investigation determined the three had kicked in the front door and removed the screen from the back patio door of 673 Westwinds Drive.

The adult suspect, 20-year-old Anthony Akers of Maddie Lane, was found with a backpack containing 28 grams of loose marijuana. He was also found in possession of a crescent wrench.

Akers is charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Possession of Burglar’s Tools and Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 13 years in prison.

There is no indication of the charges filed against the two juveniles.
