A Coralville man awaiting sentencing on a robbery charge now faces new charges after he was arrested for allegedly making threats with a handgun.

Coralville Police say 20-year-old Artquon Kirksey of Boston Way and another man, identified as 20-year-old Chico Williams of Wilson Avenue in Cedar Rapids, were driving on the 900 block of Boston Way just after 4pm Wednesday when they both displayed handguns to the alleged victim. The man told police he thought he was going to be shot by the way Kirksey and Williams were holding the guns. Another witness confirmed seeing the two displaying the handguns.

Kirksey and Williams were both arrested and charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison. Kirksey faces an additional charge of Driving While Suspended.

Kirksey is awaiting a June 24th sentencing for his role in an incident in the 500 block of 7th Street in Coralville on December 23rd, 2017.

Police say Kirksey, along with 24-year-old Soloman Marshall and 21-year-old Markez Fox, met with the victim for a transaction that never happened. As the victim got into a vehicle to leave, Marshall allegedly displayed a handgun and fired one shot into the vehicle, hitting the victim in the arm and chest.

Marshall is being held without bond in the Johnson County jail pending his sentencing date, which is also June 24th. Fox had his charges pleaded down to 1st Degree Theft in January and was credited for time served.

Kirksey was originally charged with 1st Degree Robbery, a class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
