A North Liberty man faces a six-year-old forgery charge.

25-year-old Kedrick Roberts of Sugar Creek Lane was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 4:30 Sunday morning. Iowa City Police say that in September and October of 2013 Roberts cashed two forged or fraudulent checks at The Money Station on South Gilbert Street. The checks totaled over $1,200 and were purportedly granted by McDonald’s.

In November of that year Roberts returned to The Money Station and allegedly attempted to cash a forged check for over $1,100 from Lincoln College in Illinois. An employee recognized Roberts, knew that he had allegedly previously committed forgery and contacted the police.

Upon Roberts’ arrest, another forged check for over $700 from Wendy’s was found on his person. He allegedly admitted he planned to cash that check as well, and that he had also cashed a similar check at Walmart.

Roberts is charged with Forgery and Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted, he faces a maximum of six years in prison.
