North Liberty city leaders plan to fill their latest city council vacancy via appointment.

In a news release issued Wednesday, city officials say applications are due by next week. Applications are available online at northlibertyiowa.org or in-person at City Hall on Quail Creek Circle. Completed applications are due to the city clerk in-person at city hall or electronically to [email protected] by noon on Wednesday, May 22nd.

The city council plans to consider the appointment at its May 28th meeting, set for 6:30pm in the council chambers. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend.

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and live in North Liberty. The appointment will last until the next regular city election this November, at which time the seat will appear on the ballot.

The vacancy comes after councilor Jennifer Goings announced last month that she and her family were moving away from the city.
