One injured in IC shooting

One person was injured in a Thursday shooting on Iowa City’s northeast side.
Iowa City Police officers, as well as officers and deputies from University Heights Police, University of Iowa Police, and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, responded to 314 Cayman Street just after 2pm for a report of a subject who had been shot by another person. Initial responding officers tended to the victim, who was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The officers also evacuated nearby residents and determined that a threat was no longer present.
Police stress this incident is not believed to be related to recent shootings in Cedar Rapids, nor an unsubstantiated social media post that is circulating about planned violence in the Iowa City area this weekend. There is no information that the public is at risk or in danger.
The case remains under investigation.
