An Iowa City man of legal drinking age got stopped for his youthful appearance while walking out of a downtown drinking establishment early Sunday and ended up getting himself arrested for his lack of cooperation.

Arrest records indicate that 22-year old Alan Pawlicki of The Quarters apartment complex on Highway Six East was observed leaving the Fieldhouse Bar on South Dubuque Street just after midnight and a police officer wanted to check his ID as he looked younger than 21.

Pawlicki refused multiple commands to sit down on a planter while the officer conducted his investigation. The officer put his hand on Pawlicki’s chest and again asked him to sit down, but Pawlicki slapped the officer’s hand away. He was then taken to the ground and handcuffed.

Pawlicki allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, and smelled of alcohol; he also was reported to have admitted that he was drunk. A post arrest PBT showed a blood alcohol content of .132.

He was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication and interference with official acts, both simple misdemeanors.
