An Iowa City man involved in a single-vehicle accident is alleged to have been highly intoxicated.

Arrest reports indicate that 43-year-old Trevor Hopkins of Kimball Road crashed his 2009 Subaru Impreza in the 800 block of North Van Buren Street Friday night at approximately 9:20 by driving it straight off the end of a dead end street.

Hopkins exhibited measurable impairment on field testing and failed a preliminary breath test.

His Datamaster reading was over five times the legal limit, at .440.

Hopkins, who could not provide an explanation for the crash,  was taken into custody and charged failure to maintain control, and first offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison if convicted.
