Boil Advisory issued for some North Liberty residents

A boil advisory has been issued for some North Liberty residents.

Due to a water main break on Friday, the city is recommending a very small number of customers, from 305 to 359 Main St., boil their water before consuming it…or that an alternative source be used. That includes drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation.

The water must be purified due to the potential for bacterial contamination. Affected customers should have received door hangers and will lose water service while repairs are made. The city says no other customers are affected.

Untreated water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes.

Ongoing testing, which takes at least 72 hours, will be used to confirm the advisory can be lifted.

For more information, please contact Greg Metternich, water superintendent, at (319) 626-5700. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1(800) 426-4791.
