Parking illegally in a handicapped spot in downtown Iowa City has led to a drunk driving charge against a western Iowa man.
Online records show Iowa City Police were notified of a truck without handicapped tags parked in a handicapped spot near Gabe’s on East Washington Street just after 10:30 Thursday night. The driver was seen with an open bottle of beer.
Officers located the truck on the 800 block of Bowery Street just before 2am Friday. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Anthony Jay Martinson of Red Oak, showed multiple signs of intoxication, failed field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .130 on a portable Breathalyzer test and a .132 on a Datamaster.
Martinson was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
