Solon splash pad project gets state grant

Plans for a Solon splash pad got a boost this week as the state announced a grant to help support the project.
The Iowa Economic Authority has announced a $56,549 Community Attraction and Tourism Grant from the Enhance Iowa Board. According to the group’s website, “Enhance Iowa provides grant funds to assist projects that provide recreational, cultural, entertainment and educational attractions, as well as sports tourism.”
The splash pad would be part of an overall $298,459 project at the Solon Recreation and Nature Area near Lakeview Elementary School that would also include a picnic shelter and restroom.
