Iowa City police are still looking for the man who entered an apartment on South Linn Street and took property from the woman living there.

The woman reportedly was woken up by the intruder at 4AM Saturday to the man talking to her, and left with an undisclosed amount of money and property.

Police Chief Denise Brotherton says they’re not being specific about what was taken to preserve the integrity of the case.

KCRG TV spoke to the victim, who acknowledged that she fell asleep and left her apartment door unlocked, but says the landlord hadn’t fixed the front door to the building, which doesn’t always latch. She also learned that surveillance cameras weren’t working.

Danielle Haber added that other tenants weren’t notified of the burglary; she planned to post flyers about the incident and urge residents to make sure to lock their doors.

The landlord, Apartments Near Campus, tells TV9 that they plan to change the door code and fix or replace the lock.
