Allegedly threatening a lawn mowing crew with a knife has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to the corner of Dodge and Jefferson Streets just before 11:45 Monday morning. Members of a lawn mowing crew told investigators that 43-year-old Troy Barkalow of Juniper Court in North Liberty had become upset about grass clippings being mowed around his property, so he pulled out a black knife from his waistband and yelled at them.

Barkalow was located by police on the 10 block of South Dodge Street with a knife in a holster on his belt. The blade was between five and eight inches long.

Barkalow admitted to being upset and yelling at the mowing crew, and the crew identified him as the man who allegedly threatened them.

Barkalow is charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying Weapons – Using a Knife in a Crime. If convicted, he faces a maximum of four years in prison.
