One of three suspects has been arrested in an Iowa City burglary case.
18-year-old Andre Smith Junior was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 8:15 Thursday night. Iowa City Police say Smith and two accomplices are seen on security video entering an address on Silver Lane around 5am on July 11th. The trio grabbed multiple pairs of shoes from a shoe rack before fleeing the residence. Two residents were present during the time of the theft. They told investigators the value of the missing items was approximately $4,000.
A search warrant was executed on Smith’s Hudson Avenue residence on Thursday. Multiple pairs of shoes matching the description of those reported stolen were found inside.
Smith is charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
