A North Liberty man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
According to police, 29-year-old Spencer Meacham of Pheasant Lane was involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend at her residence on East Zeller Street. The woman stated that Meacham grabbed her by the arms and threw her to the ground. His actions resulted in the woman suffering pain on the back of her head from hitting the ground when she was thrown down. She also said her arms hurt from being grabbed by Meacham.
Meacham was located driving his Nissan Altima southbound on Dubuque Street near Grace Community Church at around 2:45pm.
Meacham was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a maximum jail sentence of one year. A no-contact order was requested by the victim between the two.
