Several construction projects will begin this week in the area.

On Monday, Mullin Avenue will be closed to traffic at the River Street Intersection. River Street will also be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic between Rocky Shore Drive and Blackhawk Street while pavement repairs are being made. The project should be complete, weather permitting, by August 21st.

In Coralville, southbound 12th Avenue will be closed from Oakdale Boulevard to just north of the Belmont Drive intersection for pavement repair. The current detour south of Oakdale Boulevard will remain in place until the entire project is complete, which is expected to be by August 20th.

14th Avenue in Coralville will be closed between 9th and 10th Streets while pavement is removed and replaced. Traffic is expected to fully reopen by August 19th.

Also in Coralville Monday afternoon, 6th Street will be closed to through traffic between 10th and 12th Avenue, and 10th Avenue will be closed to through traffic between 5th and 7th Streets for pavement repair. Both roads should be open to traffic by August 20th if weather permits.

In North Liberty, the Recreational Trail will be closed between Penn and Zeller Streets while sewer upgrades are completed. It is expected to reopen late Friday. Another trail closure for sewer work is expected the following week along Ranshaw Way from Penn Street to Liberty Plaza.

Major construction is expected to begin Monday on Old Highway 218 between McCollister Boulevard and Oak Crest Hill Road. Traffic will be narrowed to one lane in each direction until the end of November.

Construction is also expected to begin this week in Johnson County Monday on Division Street from Highway 965 to Iowa County with long delays anticipated. The fall phase, from Iowa County to Swisher View Drive, will wrap up by the end of November and the spring phase will start in April from the east corporate limits of Swisher to Highway 965 and should be complete by the end of June.

And Tuesday, the four-to-three lane conversion on Mormon Trek Boulevard will begin between Westside Drive to Melrose Avenue. Traffic will be maintained in both directions and pavement markings should be complete by Friday.
