A Coralville woman who allegedly hit her boyfriend over the head with a flashlight before trying to run him down in a truck and chasing him with a meat cleaver has reached a plea deal.

Terms of the deal for 39-year-old Vanessa Ramirez of 4th Avenue, reached on Wednesday, have not been released.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Ramirez called her boyfriend around 4pm on July 11th to pick her up at A to Z Consignment on 1st Avenue. He then took her to Garage Mahaul on Alyssa Court, despite a no-contact order being in place between the two.

Once at Garage Mahaul, Ramirez allegedly hit the man over the head with a flashlight, causing an injury. Police say she then got into the alleged victim’s truck and chased him with it in the parking lot, stating that she was going to run him over.

Ramirez also allegedly held a meat cleaver and a screwdriver and told the man she was going to stab him, and that it would not end until one of them was dead.

Ramirez is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault With Intent to Inflict Serious Injury and Violating a No-Contact Order. The domestic abuse charge carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison.

Ramirez has been released from custody as she awaits a September 20th sentencing date.
