An Iowa City woman was taken into custody Sunday night after driving while intoxicated with her three-year-old in tow.

Police say that 35-year-old Arlene Green of Carroll Street was reported to be leaving a residence in the 1100 block of Hollywood Boulevard in an intoxicated state. She drove by a squad car and pulled into another residence about two blocks away and stopped in a driveway.

An officer made contact with Green and detected a very strong odor of ingested alcohol. She then became emotional and argumentative, telling officers that she just wanted to go inside and that they could take her car.

Green showed measurable impairment on field testing and was unable to provide a PBT. After a Datamaster showed a blood alcohol reading of .318, she allegedly admitted that she drank a 12 pack and drove afterwards.

Her 3-year-old child was with her in the vehicle.

Green was taken into custody and charged with her second OWI, child endangerment and driving while license denied or revoked. If convicted on the charges, she faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
