An alleged assault involving the throwing of pineapple slices has led to a probation violation against a man with multiple drunk driving convictions.

34-year-old Shane Morlan is on probation for a 2016 Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd or Subsequent Offense conviction in Johnson County. Cedar Rapids Police say Morlan violated his probation after fighting with the mother of his child on August 24th. According to arrest records, police met with the woman at Mercy of Cedar Rapids. She claimed Morlan had thrown pineapple pieces at her before slapping her in the face. He also allegedly took her cellphone to prevent her from calling the police.

Morlan is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault and Obstructing Emergency Communications. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 60 days in jail.

Morlan was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:30 Tuesday night.
