Allegedly threatening to kill an Iowa City man and his family has led to a Linn County man’s arrest.

23-year-old Lane Gillis of Palo was arrested just after 7pm Saturday on a Driving While Barred charge near the corner of Highway 965 and Cherry Street in North Liberty. Gillis was wanted for allegedly threatening a former employer.

Iowa City Police say Gillis called the man at his Sandusky Drive residence around midnight on July 12th, telling him “I can kill you anytime I want and I will kill your family.” The alleged victim recognized Gillis’ voice, and Gillis’ name and number came up on the alleged victim’s caller ID. Police records also list the number as belonging to Gillis.

Gillis is charged with 1st Degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison.
