US News moves UI up in rankings

US News and World Report has moved the University of Iowa up in their rankings of the nation’s top public universities.

The UI is now 34th, up from 38th.

The magazine ranks universities on metrics like graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, ACT and SAT test scores and alumni giving rates.

Among all universities, public and private, the University of Iowa moved up from 89th to 84th.

US News also ranked programs nationally. Iowa’s Tippie College of Business is ranked 31st, and 19th among public universities. The College of Engineering is ranked 66th, and 36th among public universities.

The UI also gets a 52nd ranking for best college for veterans, and 77th among the most innovative schools in the country. And it got a Best Value rating from the magazine.
