ICPD seeking hit-and-run driver who struck a child

Iowa City Police are seeking a hit-and-run driver who struck a child.

According to an ICPD news release, at approximately 3:23 P.M. Tuesday officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident that occurred approximately ten minutes earlier at the intersection of Governor and Burlington Streets. A 12-year-old male was crossing the street when he was struck by what he believed to be a white van that was westbound on Burlington, turning north on Governor. It was reported that the van’s driver stopped until the child got to his feet with assistance from an unknown witness, then continued northbound on Governor.

The ICPD is attempting to identify the driver of the vehicle, as well as the passer-by who assisted the child. If you have information regarding this incident please call the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-5276.
