A fight during a basketball game has led to a University of Iowa student’s arrest.

UI Police say 21-year-old Zihao Li of 6th Avenue in Coralville was playing basketball at the UI Campus Recreation and Wellness Center just before 9:30 Monday night when the game became heated. Li allegedly struck another player in the face with a closed fist, causing a large area of swelling around the victim’s eye and abrasions to his nose around where his glasses were resting.

Li admitted to striking the man and apologized for his actions. The victim was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Li was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
