A homeless Iowa City area man has been charged with assault after he broke the victim’s window.
Police say the incident occurred in the 900 block of Boston Way in Coralville Wednesday morning at approximately 8:30. 33-year-old Martel Horton was arguing with the victim in their residence when he broke a window, approached the victim and pushed them in the chest.
Horton was taken to the hospital on an unrelated event and reportedly told an officer at least twenty times that when he gets out of jail the next day, he was going to shoot the victim and his own brother before killing himself.
Horton was taken into custody and charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum 30 day jail sentence.
