Booker to visit Iowa City and Cedar Rapids today

Democratic Presidential candidate Cory Booker will be in our area today, kicking off a week of political visits by candidates in Iowa.

The New Jersey Senator will be joined by State Senator Robb Hogg at the Cultivate Hope Urban Farm in Cedar Rapids at 5pm, followed by a climate forum at 5:30 at the Groundswell Café. His main appearance will be this evening at the University of Iowa Memorial Union. He is due to speak at 7:30pm.

Tulsi Gabbard will be at a house party in Solon Tuesday from 3-4:30pm, followed by a similar event that evening in Cedar Rapids.

Vice President Mike Pence will be in Waukee Wednesday touting the United States Mexico Canada Agreement at an event called “USMCA: A Better Deal for American Workers.” He’s due to speak at 2:15pm at Manning Farms.

This Sunday the United Food and Commercial Workers Union will be hosting a candidate forum in Altoona. Joe Biden, Michael Bennet, Steve Bullock, Pete Buttigeig and Kamala Harris are scheduled to attend.

The New York Times reports that national polling average has Biden with a 24-21% lead over Elizabeth Warren, with Bernie Sanders coming in at 16%.  Twelve candidates have met the criteria to qualify for the fourth debate, scheduled for October 15th in Westerville, Ohio.
