Leading a vulgar chant about Penn State University led to a local transient’s arrest last weekend.
Iowa City Police were on foot patrol on the Ped Mall just after 11:30 Saturday night when they observed 48-year-old Michael Link standing on a planter near the intersection of Dubuque and Washington Streets. Link was wearing a mask and chanting “F— PENN STATE”.
Officers told Link to stop, and as they were walking away he began yelling “F— THE POLICE”.
Link showed multiple signs of intoxication and was arrested for Public Intoxication. He pleaded guilty Monday and was fined $65.
