Two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident in Iowa County Saturday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 62-year-old Bradford Stiles of Iowa City was driving his Toyota Tacoma northbound on Highway 151 just before 8:45am when he lost control on the Iowa River Bridge south of Amana, likely due to icy conditions.

Stiles crossed the center line and hit a Honda CRV being driven by 35-year-old Lydia Schirmer of Williamsburg head-on.

Stiles and Schirmer were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway, blocking Highway 151 for much of the morning.
The accident remains under investigation.
