A Tuesday night accident on Interstate 80 has led to a drunk driving charge against a Solon man.

The Iowa State Patrol responded to the accident scene near mile marker 244 eastbound at 7:30pm. A Ford F-150 had broken through several cable barriers and came to rest in the ditch.

Arriving officers made contact with the driver and lone occupant, 43-year-old Benjamin Harrison of White Oak Avenue. Investigators say Harrison smelled of ingested alcohol, showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking. He refused field sobriety testing and was taken to the Coralville Police Department, where he refused a Datamaster test.

Harrison was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense and Failure to Maintain Control. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in prison.
