Allegedly threatening to shove paperwork down an Iowa City Police officer’s throat has led to a Coralville man’s arrest.

Officers were dispatched to The Yacht Club on South Linn Street just before 2:15 Saturday morning for a subject bothering customers who were leaving the live music venue. The subject, later identified as 49-year-old Cecil Cilek of Holiday Road, allegedly became aggressive with Yacht Club staff when asked to move along. He then told them to call the police.

Cilek refused to answer officers’ questions about who he was waiting for or why he would not leave the premises. He was issued a criminal trespass warning, but still refused to leave.

Police say Cilek kept asking them the same questions over and over, and refused to leave until those questions were answered. Officers answered the questions, but Cilek kept pacing back-and-forth and repeating the questions.

Cilek was eventually cited for trespassing and given a summons to appear. When told to retain his copy, he reportedly told an officer he didn’t need it and he would shove it down the officer’s throat.

Cilek was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Harassment and Trespassing. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
