NL man accused of hitting his roommate with bag of cans, kneeing him in the groin

Allegedly kneeing his roommate in the groin, then hitting him with a bag of cans has led to a North Liberty man’s arrest.

North Liberty Police responded to an assault on Alydar Drive just before 11:15 Saturday night. The alleged victim told arriving officers that his roommate, identified as 35-year-old Justin Green, had been involved in a verbal argument that moved outside. Green then allegedly pushed his roommate backwards several times before kneeing him in the groin.

The roommate also claimed Green had thrown a garbage bag full of empty cans at him.

Green, who police say showed signs of intoxication, claimed he pushed his roommate because the man was blocking his path to his vehicle.

Green is described as the alleged victim’s roommate in arrest records, although the same records show Green as residing in the Western Hills Estates manufactured housing community in Coralville.

Green is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
